Plot[]
Adrian's twenty-first birthday started off badly. Up until this point, he has not been allowed to legally drink, but that has never stopped him before. He is grateful that he doesn't have to face either of his parents on his birthday, knowing he will only receive a lecture. He reminisces about the good times he had with his now-deceased aunt Tatiana. Tatiana always remembered his birthday without having to be reminded and never lectured him. She once gifted him a pair of ruby cufflinks that have been long lost.
Snapped out of his thought, a voice wishes him "Happy birthday." The voice belonged to Jill Mastrano. While Adrian wanted to leave to go feed, he continued to chat with Jill. This chat ended with Jill inviting Adrian to a dinner party her parents were throwing. At first, he was hesitant, knowing his ex, Rose, and her current boyfriend, Dimitri, would be there. He decided to attend, not wanting Jill to face her parents, Lissa, Christian, Rose, and Dimitri, alone while they told her what she would be doing with her life.
