-Rose"The St. Varvara's Day scavenger hunt was a tradition at our school—an unofficial one."
History[]
In honor of a Moroi saint who was said to have fought ghosts centuries ago, St. Vladimir's Academy held massive carnivals for both the lower and upper campuses each year. Nobody in the world of the Moroi today really believed that she had fought against ghosts. Scarcely anybody even praised the occasion any longer, and the people who did in America had kind of wound up making it a subsequent Halloween. Since it took place a little less than a month after Halloween, it was a useful way to reuse costumes and decorations. The teachers held the upper and lower school carnivals outdoors if the weather was good, which meant less than five feet of snow in Montana at the end of November. The carnivals pretty much contained every clichéd Halloween activity you could think of: bobbing for apples, costume contests, and even pumpkin carving. Additionally, it was brimming with junk food.

Scavenger Hunt[]
"The St. Varvara's Day scavenger hunt was a tradition at our school—an unofficial one."[1]
The students who were in charge of organizing the hunt varied from year to year. Most of the time, the group was made up of Moroi and Dhampirs who combined a set of prize items that were either hard to get at school or completely banned. For two hours, three-person teams raced around campus, collecting as much as they could from a list of illicit items. The difficulty of obtaining the aforementioned items varied, but stealing any one of them would put you in serious trouble if you were caught. Teachers' personal possessions were a popular choice. The amount of effort required to obtain each item determined its point value.
