The last two books in the series (Spirit Bound and Last Sacrifice) were also banned, being perhaps the first ever books to be banned before even being written or published. Richelle Mead has said on her blog that she is not upset about the school district's decision, but rather "humbled and amazed" that she would join the ranks of greats like To Kill a Mockingbird and 1984. She also stated: As a former teacher, I absolutely respect and encourage parents to be a part of what their children are reading. However, banning books outright from schools and libraries takes this right away from families and denies them the chance to make their own decisions. It also flies in the face of the rights our country has always prided itself on, freedom of speech being the biggest. In my experience, many banned books are some of the greatest and most thought-provoking pieces of literature out there. Being in the company of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Robert Cormier is an honor. Unoffical Web series On November 22, 2015 the YouTube channel [1] "Vampire Academy Officially Unofficial Fan series" uploaded their first video about the new web series based on Richelle Mead's Best-selling series "Vampire Academy". Now under new leadership and direction, they have created a new YouTube channel titled "Bound By Shadows: Frostbite Fan Series," a web series that captures the book everyone has been dying to see brought to the screen: Frostbite.
